After leaving Colorado, John met his friend Matty Herson of Long Island, N.Y., in Missoula Montana, and they followed the NP west to Washington. Along the way they photographed NP varnish, MILW boxcabs on the transcon, and the new second-gen diesels from GE running in the Yakima River Canyon on the NP.
