Milwaukee Road flood detour chases
Mississippi River flooding on the "Dri-Line" south of Clinton, IA., meant that Milwaukee Road trains used their "Nitrin" branch down the river on the Illinois side of the river to get to Davenport, IA., and Nahant Yard from their Savanna, IL., yard. One chase in June nets a MILW GP30 leading a set of power, then a month later the uniquely painted bi-centennial locomotive Milwaukee Road #156 takes a run down this 10mph branch in fresh paint. The chase is ON!
