Reading T1 4-8-4s on the PRR Northern Lines
At Renovo, PA., John and friend Bill Rosenberg found the Reading T-1s, uneeded by Reading, and leased by the Pennsy. It was cheaper for PRR to lease these uneeded, but well maintained locomotives, then perform expensive class repairs needed on much of their own soon-to-be-retired steam fleet. Pennsy ran these in heavy haul service. This was on the way home from a 3 week railfan trip to the midwest.
