This is a view of the Hyannis section of the train that split at Buzzards Bay. This train also ended running later in the month.

I heard it reported that the New Haven RR actually made a profit on the New York to Cape Cod trains. They did not seem to want for passengers. The big problem, i understand, was that the bankrupt railroad simply did not have enough surplus equipment to run these seasonal trains beyond 1964. Amtrak did revive the service weekends only, and only to Hyannis in 1986. That service ran for many summers.
