On the Manayunk bridge over the Schuylkill, the Reading Co. freight station sign is visible below. PRR built the Schuylkill Branch in response to Reading entering the Philadelphia-NY passenger market; it went head-to-head with Reading's commuter service from Reading. In fact, from the point of this photo to Norristown, the lines were in sight of each other most of the way. (Per wikipedia)
