Looking at the Barclay St. Terminal from the Hudson.

With the exception of the 1960's Erie Lackawanna lettering above the slips, the antiquated Barclay Street terminal remained virtually unchanged for decades.

Sometimes, during off-peak hours, or, when the boats were not running, a barge could be seen in of the slips, maintaining the plant, including greasing the pilings. This was necessary so that the ferries would glide in more easily when pulling in, as they made contact with the pilings.

Though the buildings opposite the terminal still stand today, this scene is a very different one these days, as this location has long since been filled in, as part of Battery Park City.

Within a few years after the ferries stopped running, the ferry terminal and adjacent piers had been demolished.
