The Rosslyn Connecting Railroad (its formal name) was disconnected! The branch existed to connect the PRR to the the small industrial area at Rosslyn, and to the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad, to Bluemont, VA. It was part of this "rare Mileage" trip itinerary. This broken rail may have been the result of the derailment, not the cause.
