A close up view of the lead unit reveals a couple things: 1. derailment probably caused by the train picking the switch to the siding 2. the shiny appearance of PRR 8444 could be attributed to a custom PRR had of wiping engines used in special service with an oily rag. (Great on the day of the trip, very dirty a month later)
