6302 was class U-3-a, the first group delivered to the GTW in 1927. When the U-3-b class came in 1942-43 (famous for the preserved 6323 and 6325), the first group was sent to Canada. Notice 6302's "banjo frame", (where the frame is split ahead of the firebox, allowing for a deeper firebox, a feature of some earlier 4-8-4s). It was prone to cracking, so the U-3-a group was withdrawn from passenger service. Notice also the outside-journal pilot truck, a common feature of CN system 4-8-2s, 4-6-4s and 4-8-4s.
