The E7's on the right show off original number slots while the E8 at the left sports EMD flushed numberboards. No. 5840 was the first fleet E7 delivered in 9/47 with the PRR-style pilot. The E7 at the right shows the standard EMD pilot applied to the 1948 second order of fleet units. Note, also, that the E8 shows the loco number in its keystone while the two E7s have PRR heralds superceding the original numbers in the keystones. More about such units will appear in future updates.
