When this photo was snapped,PRSL deck roof car #3226 was to be in service for only a short while longer. Already, PS motormen were being trained to operate the ex-TCRT PCC's that were already arriving on city subway property, spelling doom for the very last of the once-vast fleet of public service streetcars.

At the last inbound stop, Pennsylvania station, old #3226, with her growling gears and thumping compressor, will unload her passengers, where they could make connections to not only local bus lines, but also, Greyhound buses, PRR and LV trains, as well as the Hudson Tubes to New York.

For the next few decades, Franklin Avenue station would change little, and was a busy transfer point between the trolley subway cars and the connecting PS bus lines. No trace remains today

Back in the early 70's, I took a number of photos here; at the time, I had no idea that i was capturing transportation history on film.
