This train is the northbound South Wind enroute to Chicago. Power for this train alternated between the roads the train traversed; the Atlantic Coast Line, the Illinois Central and the Pennsylvania Railroad. Here an SAL Alco switcher backs the train into the SAL station.

Didn't the Louisville & Nashville turn the South Wind over to the Pennsy at Louisville? I'm wondering where the Illinois Central was involved with the South Wind, ACL, L&N, and PRR.

I believe the South Wind was an ACL train....SAL did the switching in Miami after the FEC strike when ACL trains ran over SAL to Miami.
