The Bunker Hill and Watch Hill were originally built as observation lounge cars for the all-parlor car, extra fare train "Merchants Limited." When coaches were added to that train, the two "Hill" series cars were mostly used as bar cars on New York-New Naven commuter trains, but in the summer one was assigned to the Woods Hole section of the Friday night Neptune to Woods Hole and returning Sunday evenings. I presume the dining car separated at Buzzards Bay and went to Hyannis. The weekend only Neptune was considered the "fun train" with lots of young working folks in a jolly mood after work on a Friday night. Sometimes there was live entertainment. Through the end of summer 1958 there was also a weekend "Night Cape Codder" with sleeping cars and coaches for both Hyannis & Woods Hole.
