During the late 60's/early 70's construction of the WTC, the cast iron H&M/PATH tubes were exposed to daylight, to the wonderment of passers-by. Many found it eerie to hear the rumbling of the unseen trains as they rattled to and from the old Hudson terminal.

Tunnel "F" carried trains from New Jersey, while tunnel "E" took them back under the Hudson to New Jersey.

This area has greatly changed since this photo was taken; the old West Side Highway has been gone for many years, and the soaring towers of the WTC were destroyed during the terror attacks on 9/11.

Sadly, nothing is forever.
