Long Beach cars roll down the express tracks. Though trains may have been called express, the speed limit through here was 25mph account of the many grade crossings protected by wig wags.

Pacific Electric ran only one express each way daily between Los Angeles and Long Beach at this time. Regular trains were limiteds. The seven mile Los Angeles to Watts Line cars were considered locals.

Location is Slauson Avenue with Slauson Tower at rear controlling the Santa Fe Harbor District crossing and just ahead the junction east to Whittier, Fullerton and Yorba Linda.

Not only does the image of the PE cars capture the past, but to the right is a prophecy, for the sign says "top prices paid for junk." In only a few years the PE would be scrapped. How sad.
