A PRR yard engine gets ready to couple up to a caboose. The hand signals are for the engineer, as the photographer was welcomed at the yard by friendly PRR employees. PRR Class I1s.

According to the late Roger Keyser, by this time all remaining I's had been converted to I1sa's (97,000 pounds tractive effort). Apparently the I's were standard as hump engines at Columbus until dieselization. (this is the westbound hump; Yard B's receiving yard is behind the engine).

Check the number of drivers and those air tanks on the pilot....i believe this H is an I.
